🌟 Candid Conversations with Memphis Women RockFeaturing: SOSNU Co. Founder
At Memphis Women Rock, we love spotlighting bold, brilliant women who are shaping culture, business, and community in powerful ways.
This week, we sat down with the founder of SOSNU Co., a Memphis based sustainable fashion and lifestyle brand, to talk music, books, business, and the power of policy in creating lasting change.
🎶 Go-To Pump-Up Song
When it comes to motivation, Beyoncé is always the vibe.
“Mood 4 Eva by Beyoncé & Jay Z is my go-to pump up song. The Gift by Beyoncé is one of my favorite projects. It’s a body of work that I listen to at least weekly. Not only is it beautiful and fun to listen to, but it’s incredibly affirming. The messaging and afrobeats make you feel deeply. The album is a celebration of purpose, Black resilience, and culture—and if that doesn’t pump you up and make you want to dance, I don’t know what will.”
📚 Best Book Ever Read
Books that transform the way you think are the ones that stay with you forever.
“The Four Agreements is one of the most transformative books I’ve read. The teachings were practical and easily digestible. They made sense, and once I started implementing them, my outlook shifted.”
đź’Ľ Advice for Memphis Women in Business
Launching a beauty or wellness brand in Memphis, especially one rooted in sustainability, comes with its own unique challenges. Here’s her advice:
“Always remember your mission, your why. Your customers or partnerships may not look like what you envisioned, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t viable. Being in Memphis, a city that may lack resources or big brand connections in the beauty or wellness space, can send you down unconventional paths. But as long as you hold tight to your why, it will always come together—if not exactly as you planned, then often even better.”
🌍 Why Policy Matters in Sustainable Fashion
The story behind SOSNU Co. is more than fashion, it’s about impact. With a background in law, the founder is bringing a fresh perspective to sustainability through policy.
“Policy is something I am passionate about. I was a pre-law major and worked in the legal field for nearly a decade before pivoting into the creative sector and starting SOSNU Co. I believe that through policy and legislation, strides could be made to ensure brands take tangible actions to become more sustainable and actually hit zero carbon and zero waste targets.”
By grounding her work in reselling, recycling, and circular models, SOSNU Co. extends the life of materials and supports a larger shift toward a circular economy.
“Since starting SOSNU Co., I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the fashion value cycle. Our mission is to enrich the circular economy by reselling, recycling, and supporting textile-to-textile models that keep products in use longer and reduce post-use waste streams.”
✨ Why We Love SOSNU Co.
From Beyoncé-fueled inspiration to a mission rooted in purpose and policy, SOSNU Co. is proving that sustainable fashion isn’t just about style—it’s about systems, community, and creating a future where fashion is both beautiful and responsible.
Memphis, take note: this is what innovation looks like. đź’ś
